Warriors defeated in front of empty seats

Wigan Warriors were tonight defeated 46-12 by local rivals St Helens in front of a half full stadium as fans deserted the Cherry and Whites.
Just 19,958 supporters turned out to watch the game and that included a packed away end of Saints' fans who made the short journey to Wigan.

Early in the second period and Warriors fans were already leaving as their side was being convincingly beaten by a superior St Helens side.

On the plus side, the pitch looked in superb condition despite the appauling weather conditions. Hopefully the £350,000 investment could spell the end to the problematic pitch for the Latics.
