| Wigans longest serving player Lee McCulloch has committed himself to another three years at the JJB Stadium, after signing an improved contract with the club. |
The Scottish International had two years to run on his current deal, but is held in such high regard by Wigan that he was offered improved terms and a one-year extension to his current contract.
Paul Jewell said: "lee is one of my consistent performers and the type of player who sums up what this club is about. He has talent in abundance, a terrific attitude and commitment and is the model pro."
McCulloch, joined Wigan from Motherwell in 2001, said: "The club's been very special to me since I've been here, it's been a good time of my life and I'm really looking forward to next season."
He added:"I have seen this club grow from the second division to the Premierhsip and I've enjoyed the ride. Last season was fantastic, although I had a difficult time with a series of niggles, playing with injections."
