PJ hits back at Pascal

Jewell's reaction comes hot on the heels of Pascal's outburst which can be found here.

Jewell said: "I met the player this morning and restated our position to him. Unless we get a price that I want, he will not be leaving this club. The asking price is my business and if a manager wants to bid for him, he can ring me up and we will negotiate.

"It is my job to protect the interests of Wigan and not be bullied into taking a smaller fee because the player and his representatives might think 'well it is only Wigan and I am sure they will take the money that is being offered'.

"I spoke to Daniel Levy (Spurs chairman) and told him what we want for him. Spurs are not prepared to pay that. As far as I can tell, from what Daniel Levy said to me, Spurs will now be moving on.

"West Ham showed a slight interest in the summer but they have moved on. So by the looks of things Pascal will be staying with us for the foreseeable future as nobody has come close to matching the price we have set."

It would appear as though the Frenchman has a long hard road back to first team football, whether that is at the JJB Stadium, or elsewhere.

Agent Willy McKay will finally have to earn his money. After all, the stamping of feet and demanding a transfer tactics aren't working.
