Despite the signing of Fitz Hall, Paul Jewell is in the market for another centre-back, and earlier in the week admitted he was interested in wantaway Hearts defender Andy Webster.
However it is thought that Jewell has also turned his attentions to Hurtado, after the player impressed during the World Cup.
Although Spanish side Recreativo de Huelva are also thought to be interested in the much-travelled defender, it is expected that Hurtado, currently plying histrade in Qatar, would jump at the chance to play in England with Wigan.
