The 43-cap striker struggled to impress the England coach after leaving Liverpool. However, the former Liverpool man has set his sights on an international recall under new England manager Steve McClaren.
Jewell also believes that the switch to the JJB Stadium can aid his record signing in achieving his aims.
The Liverpudlian insists that if Heskey can recover his confidence, there will be no stopping the powerful hit man.
"Emile has got pace and is as strong as an ox."
Speaking to the Daily star, he added:"Maybe he has lacked a bit of confidence but we hae a good record here of gettingthe best our of players."
Jewell backed up his claims by showing how a number of players have taken their career onto the next level whilst with the Latics.
"When Pascal Chimbonda came here last sumemr no on had heard of him, next thins he is in the French World Sup squad."
