Ellington wants Wigan return

By Paul Farrington
Wednesday, 26th July 2006
Nathan Ellington has confessed this week to the Wigan Observer that he should never have left Wigan Athletic, insisting that he wants to rejoin the club and help the Latics progress.

In a shock revelation to the Wigan Observer newspaper, the 24 year old front man confessed his desire to move back to the Latics, despite being booed by the fans last season.

Ellington told the paper: "I'm not worried about the reception I'll get. I know I got booed when I came to Wigan last year for West Brom and it wasn't a nice experience.

"I shouldn't have left Wigan last season, but we all make mistakes. I want to put it all behind me, come back and help the club progress."

The Duke left the club on poor terms, upsetting not only many of the Wigan Athletic fans, but also manager Paul Jewell and chairman Dave Whelan. However Ellington considers this to be in the past.

He added: "It's all water under the bridge now as far as I'm concerned. I've proved I can score goals in the Premiership.

"I got eight in sixteen starts last season and I didn't finish all those games - I don't think the manager believed in me."

It is expected that Ellington may well re-sign for the club after they return from the pre-season training camp in Austria.
