Chimbonda expecting harsh reaction

By Paul Farrington
Friday, 12th September 2008
More than two years have passed since Pascal Chimbonda's somewhat frosty departure from the JJB Stadium. Now, the former Latic returns and isn't expecting a warm reaction.
In his pre-match interview with the Northern Echo, Chimbonda just couldn't held but have a dig at the Latics.

He said: "When I played for Wigan we didn't have any big name players, just people who wanted to work hard and achieve something. Here I think we have more quality players so if we do the same I think we can maybe finish in the top half or win something."

"Wigan was a long time ago. We need to think about the game and go for a win, not me. I had one fantastic season with Wigan. The fans loved me and I loved the fans so I was very disappointed when something happened and I left.

"When I moved to Wigan nobody I knew knew where it was. By the end of that season every team in the Premier League respected Wigan. We finished tenth that season, which was good for our first season in the Premier League."
